Tokyo cop collared for sneaking into women’s restroom at park
ICHIHARA, Chiba — A Tokyo police officer faces charges for sneaking into a women’s restroom at a park here, police said.
Chiba Prefectural Police reported the 45-year-old sergeant with the Metropolitan Police Department to prosecutors, accusing him of trespassing. He admitted to the allegations during questioning.
The sergeant followed two junior high school girls into a women’s room at Ichihara Ryokuchi Sports Park in Ichihara at around 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 23, according to investigators. When the girls noticed him, he showed his police ID and identified himself before leaving the scene.
Police believe the officer was trying to pass himself off as on official duties. The incident came to light after the junior high school girls reported him to a local police station.
